Strong communication skills and team-working abilities are essential.

  • Ability to plan, monitor, evaluate and record Early Years Foundation Stage teaching and learning.

  • Ability to work effectively independently and as a member of a team.

  • Ability to self-motivate.

  • Ability to manage own time.

  • Familiarity with current developments in Early Years Foundation Stage teaching.

Experience

  • 2 years post-qualifying experience in a day care setting

                                              

Purpose

  • To work between the hours of 9-12pm term time.  To ensure the highest standards of emotional, social, intellectual and physical care for Pre-School children at Red Balloon.

  • To ensure the implementation of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.

  • To adequately equip the Pre-School children for their school transition

  • To work alongside the Manager, the Head of Room and the wider staff team to ensure that the vision, philosophy and objectives behind Red Balloon are fulfilled.

  • To ensure the provision of a high quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds, and stages of development.

 

Reports To

  • Reports to the Nursery Manager, Deputy manager and when need the Group manager and owners.

 

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • To develop pre-school children through delivery of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.

  • To ensure short term planning is completed each week outside of working hours.

  • To record and regularly update written documentation regarding the development of the children in your care; termly assessments to be completed on every individual child.

  • Individual assessment packs to be copied and sent to child’s school before the end of the summer term.

  • To contribute observation to children profiles and to complete an individual summary at the end of each term.

  • To communicate with parents on a regular basis, via email, weekly clarion and phone call when necessary and arranging appointments if a face to face meeting is required.

  • To work in close partnership and to develop and maintain good relationships with parents / carers and other family members

  • To work in partnership with the Head of Room; contributing to room ideas and planning and all overall effectiveness to ensure the smooth running of the room and best outcomes for children, parents and staff.

  • To ensure that safety and security measures are constantly maintained.

  • To manage your own time to ensure you are fulfilling your job description.

  • Additional duties may be asked of you to ensure the smooth and effective running of the nursery.

 

As part of the Senior Team your responsibilities include

  • To work in partnership with the manager and other teachers to ensure the development and monitoring of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum in the Preschool room.  This includes set days each term to meet up, plan, develop and implement change. 

  • To keep up to date with developments in the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and to share this information with colleagues.

  • To work in partnership with the manager and senior team to plan for the long term planning.

  • To coach, develop and direct team members where appropriate; ensuring all staff are supported and engaging in a strong staff team.

  • To be aware of and act in accordance with current legislation and nursery policies and Procedures; ensuring you are up-to-date with any changes and role modelling best practice to the rest of the nursery team.
