An enthusiastic, energetic and dedicated individual will be required to take advantage of this challenging and exciting opportunity. The successful candidate will have to demonstrate a genuine passion for providing the highest standards in quality childcare and must enjoy the company of children. Strong communication skills and team-working abilities are essential.

  • The successful candidate must have a good understanding of:

  • The importance of and procedures to follow regarding Safeguarding children

  • The importance of supporting children’s transitions

Qualifications and Training

  •  (NVQ3/NNEB minimum: as long as candidate is in process of studying for EY degree/EYP)

  • Current First Aid qualification

Experience

  • 2 years post-qualifying experience in a day care setting

  • Working with babies

  • An understanding of team management

 

Purpose

  • To assume the role of Head of Room in their absence and support the Head of Room with every day running and organisation of the room.

 

Reports to

  • Management Team including the Owners, Group Manager and Nursery Manager, Deputy Manager and Head of Room.

  • Annual performance appraisals to be conducted by the Head of Room.

  • Required to attend general team meetings all annual events (list to be supplied).

 

Tasks & Responsibilities

Ongoing

General

  • To take full responsibility for all new children’s starter information for the room; tray, peg, chair, self-registration labels.

  • To allocate display boards out between staff members in the room and make sure that they are changed on at least a 2 monthly basis.

  • To take full responsibility for organising photo’s for the room, to print out on a weekly basis, cut and put into staff pigeon holes.

  • Make sure the room is set up with the six areas of learning everyday and the children have free flow opportunity between inside and outside.

  • Ensure early and late jobs are done to the correct stand everyday and speak to the appropriate staff if they are not.

  • Ensure room staff have been allocated time out for files and planning on a weekly basis.

  • To meet parents and carry out ‘Welcome to Red Room’ meetings for new parents and parents of children changing rooms.

  • Help manage staff and carry out staff one to ones.

  • Keep the role play areas fresh and exciting and fully stocked.

  • To lead and support all staff members in the room, to guide them and delegate jobs to them.

  • To support new members of staff, give guidance and support with children’s profile and planning.

  • To take full responsibility for monthly sheets within the room, ready to give to manager on last day of the month.

  • To ensure the staff members are consistently working to their full potential.

  • To show prospective parents around the nursery.

  • To make sure all rooms have their children’s registration sheets on a weekly basis.

  • To work with and support the manager to achieve an outstanding Ofstead rating.

  • To act as an Ambassador for Red Balloon and to ensure that the vision, philosophy and objectives behind Red Balloon are fulfilled.
