Qualifications and Training

  • Level 3 Hygiene

  • Current First Aid qualification

  • Equal Opportunities

  • Be willing to undertake further training when needed 

 

Experience

  • Experience of cooking for children

  • 2 years’ experience in a kitchen

  • Experience in ordering food

  • Experience in planning menus for children

  • Record keeping including safe food better business system

  • Complete a programme of cleaning and kitchen maintenance

  • Awareness and adoption of health and safety awareness

 

Purpose

  • To organise, cook and prepare a healthy balanced diet for children aged 0 to 5 years

 

Reports to

  • Reports directly to the Nursery Manager, Deputy Manager and when need the Group manager and Owners. 

 

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • To be the budget holder for the provision of food and associated goods for the Nursery.

  • To be responsible for the purchase of such provisions.

  • To be responsible in conjunction with the Manager for planning menus.

  • To keep weekly accounts of such expenditure.

  • To co-ordinate the preparation and serving of all nursery meals.

  • To wash-up crockery and cutlery.

  • To be responsible for hygiene and Risk Assessment within the kitchen area.

  • To assist and support nursery staff with cooking activities for the children.

  • To plan healthy, nutritious balanced child friendly meals.  Using the Eat Better Start Better Guidelines.
